More than meets the eye in the Cotswold's
September 2016

The Royal Agricultural University (RAU) set in 25 acres of Cotswold countryside, gives conference and event organisers a very special venue to consider. The historic buildings of the original College blend atmospheric wood panelled meeting and dining rooms with modern lecture theatres and teaching rooms of the University campus.

The Royal Agricultural University welcomes conference and events, offering 25 en-suite bedrooms during term time, raising to over 300 rooms in the summer holidays making it an ideal destination for groups of all sizes and requirements.

In the competitive world of conference and events it’s not the ‘sausage’ but the ‘sizzle’ which can make all the difference. Knowing what you are not can be as important as knowing what you do well. This is where they focus – location, history and above all they work very hard to deliver a professional and friendly service to all their conference and events customers – each is different, each is unique.

In summer it is repeat and new business referrals which remain the strongest part of RAU's customer base. Mainly from NFP, Royal Colleges, professional bodies and with a growing number of clients from special interest groups. During term time they see more corporate residential use, plus a high number of repeat day meetings from training companies and local associations.

Paul Brown, Commercial Sales Manager at RAU commented; "Being part of Venuemasters gives us a voice to communicate our message to organisers as to who, what, where etc. and is amongst our most important marketing tools to drive new business to the University. For first timers there is no substitute to visiting in order to see for yourself what a venue offers, just take the producers of Poldark, who visited and quickly decided to use our Quad to replicate the town market in the current series."
