Exciting five-point plan shapes new beginnings for VM
November 2017

Following last week’s announcement that Venuemasters had appointed Natalie Williamson as the new General Manager, the membership consortium for academic venues, has wasted no time in preparing for 2018. Today, Venuemasters announced a five-point plan, designed to make some bold steps to becoming the leading collection of academic venues offering fit for purpose, ethical, meeting spaces and learning environments, providing solutions for event organisers.

Two key appointments include a new Chair of the Board - Steve Crawford from College Court at the University of Leicester, plus a new Sales and Membership Director, Rachael Bartlett, who joins the team as part of a partnership with Paje Consultancy.

Commenting on his appointment Steve Crawford, Conference Centre Director at University of Leicester: “I’m delighted to become Chair following Natalie’s appointment to General Manager. It’s an exciting time to join, and the building blocks for the future are all in place to really make our mark on the academic venue sector. The Board have a wealth of experience and at a recent Board Meeting we have seen great passion and enthusiasm for the future. I am also delighted to welcome Rachael Bartlett, as our Sales and Membership Director, who has fantastic venue experience, plus the industry expertise of the team at Paje Consultancy who are working with the Board to put the new plans in place. These appointments will make a real difference to our plans for growth. We are in very exciting times for the organisation.”

Alongside these appointments are three strategic developments. These will include some new initiatives such as a new brand identity, learning and development programme; a new website – which will be launched late spring 2018. The new identity for the consortium will be launched next spring and will reconnect Venuemasters back to academic venues – marking a return to its roots.

Natalie commented: "The ideas and changes I'd like to make are beginning to take shape, and there’s real momentum building up. The annual Conference and AGM will take place on 7-8 February 2018 at College Court, Leicester, where I plan to reveal the new identity, website and some new initiatives.”
