Matt Marshall, Marketing Manager for Croeso-Welcome Bangor in North Wales, was expecting to spend last Thursday talking to the many interested buyers visiting the VENUEMASTERS stand at International Confex. Croeso-Welcome Bangor was one of the venues taking advantage of the stand share offer, which enables Venuemasters members to have a presence at the UK`s premier conference and event services exhibition.
“Wednesday had been really encouraging with genuine buyers showing interest in academic venues in general and Bangor in particular”, said Matt, “but at 10am on Thursday I received a disturbing phone call from the office in Bangor!”. The gist of it was – Snow causes chaos in Bangor! Roads closed by ice! Return while you still can!
Without hesitation Matt made his way out of the Confex Exhibition Hall at Earl`s Court, and, evading patrols sent out by VENUEMASTERS to nab absconding stand sharers, returned to beautiful North West Wales, which looked even better under a blanket of crisp, fresh snow. Stopping only to borrow a pair of wellies, he struck out across country to his snowbound home village located on the edge of Snowdonia, just a few miles from Bangor, and arrived invigorated, and still wearing his regulation university blazer and tie, as the sun went down! “I may be wrong, but I suspect I`m the only person at Confex that day who had such a beautiful journey home!” said Matt.
Of course, Croeso-Welcome Bangor cannot promise customers a delightful snowy scene, but with quality conference facilities and accommodation, plus a very warm welcome, in superb surroundings, Bangor has to be hard to beat!
