January 2005 heralds the dawn of an exciting new development plan for imago at Burleigh Court, the international residential conference centre which is part of the brand imago, located at Loughborough.
Over the next 18 months, imago at Burleigh Court will undergo a transformation via a phased expansion, to become a conference centre with 185 bedrooms, larger syndicate and meeting rooms, extended lounge, private dining facilities, increase in parking facilities and a new build of its leisure and spa facilities at Burleigh Springs.
‘imago at Burleigh Court is about to enter one of its most exciting development stages since its launch as a conference centre 14 years ago’ said Kay England, Chief Executive of imago at Burleigh Court. ‘The plans for the expansion are a culmination of various factors:- growing business and community needs and customer suggestions, plus their observations based on their own event experience at Burleigh Court.’
Kay continues, ‘ We recognise the changing needs of all of our customers. For example, our business customers want bigger syndicate rooms, private dining facilities and more communal areas with tea and coffee stations for informal meetings and data access points for checking e-mails. University staff – our colleagues within the engineering faculty are some of our regular delegates - often require bedrooms as part of the package when booking our nearby day delegate centre, imago at Holywell Park, for large engineering events. The additional bedrooms will provide the necessary accommodation where required, for day conferences.
A prerequsite for many of our delegates involved in sports events from our sports faculty is that bedrooms must have the flexibility to be offered as single or shared accommodation. One of the new bedroom blocks will be built to meet these specifications with the provision of ‘zip and link’ beds.’’
imago at Burleigh Court also enjoys business provided by the local community in parallel to the national and international business customer. ‘Local customers enjoy the flexibility of our dining, lounge and leisure facilities’, Kay explains. ‘So with the refurbishment of the restaurant, the expansion of the lounge and the re-build of the leisure and spa facilities, we hope to welcome more local customers than ever before for lunches, special dinners, gym membership and beauty and spa treatments.’
Another benefit of the added room capacity is the short term availability of bed & breakfast if business customers do not occupy all rooms. ‘imago at Burleigh Court has consistently generated a significant volume of business tourism within the East Midlands area’, said Kay. ‘The obvious advantage of B&B; availability is that now imago at Burleigh Court can contribute towards local initiatives in attracting leisure tourism to Loughborough.’
