| LE CAFE'S COFFEE IS THE CREME DE LA CREME |
From rich espresso to cool iced latte there’s no better place for coffee than Le Café at Keele Conference Park. That’s according to a national survey conducted by The Independent to find the top 50 coffee houses in the UK. The ultra-modern coffee shop in the University's Chancellor’s Building was ranked 29th in the search for the UK’s best cup of coffee.
Proving there is life beyond Starbucks the Independent’s judges agreed that: ‘This modern sleek looking bistro has recently won a design award and the mocha is well worth a try, as they use real chocolate sauce.’ The judging panel included: the Independent’s drinks correspondent, the owner of London’s Monmouth Coffee Company, the owner of Union Coffee Roasters and the MD of Matthew Algie, one of the UK’s oldest coffee companies.
David Oldham, Keele’s Head of Catering, added: “It is great to gain recognition especially at a national level from such a distinguished panel of experts. We are very proud of Le Café which is really popular both with students, academics and visitors because the quality is high but the prices are as low as possible.”
