Meeting rooms: Rooms available year round for up to 400-theatre style or 324 for a formal dinner. Facilities for up to 590 delegates available at vacation periods, and in evenings and weekends throughout the year.

Bedrooms: Sixty-five en suite rooms are available all year round. During the summer vacation period an additional seventy-six en suite rooms and over 1000 standard rooms with shared facilities become available.

VENUE DESCRIPTION

The University of Aberdeen boasts a wide range of facilities to suit most conference and event organisers' needs. Set in the heart of historic Old Aberdeen, only a mile from the city centre, the University is a truly unique location for any conference or event. Established for over 500 years, the original buildings and timeless cobbled streets of the University create an intimate ambience ideal for business or pleasure.

MEETING DESCRIPTION

Elphinstone Hall and the Linklater Rooms are avilable all year round. The hall can accommodate up to 400 theatre style or 324 for a formal dinner. The Linklater Rooms can accommodate up to 60 theatre style or for dinner. These facilities are supplemented during vacation periods by a wide range of academic facilities for up to 590 delegates which are also available during evening and weekends throughout the year. The most notable of which is the Kings Conference Centre for 150 delegates, which is located in the original University Library and boasts beautiful stained glass windows and barrel vaulted ceilings.

BEDROOM DESCRIPTION

Sixty-five en-suite rooms are available all year round with facilities including TV, hairdryer, trouser press and complimentary tea & coffee. During the summer vacation period an additional seventy-six en-suite rooms and over 1000 standard rooms with shared facilities become available. These rooms are all within walking distance of the main campus and are a mix of catered and self catered halls.

RESTAURANT / BAR DESCRIPTION

The campus is well equipped with catering facilities ranging from take-away outlets to cafes and pubs. Meals for residential delegates are served in the dining rooms at the halls of residence. Additional dining facilities are available at the central catering building where large numbers can be accommodated. For a special occasion, the dramatic Elphinstone Hall creates an unforgettable backdrop in which to host receptions, dinners and presentations.

LEISURE FACILITIES

Extensive facilities are available on campus to all delegates individually or for group bookings by prior arrangement. On the main campus there is a large games hall, performance gym, squash courts, swimming pool, gymnasium, fitness suite, floodlit tennis courts, playing fields and fitness studio. Additional facilities are available at other locations across the University. Special arrangements can be made for exclusive use of the facilities if required.

DIRECTIONS

Aberdeen, Europe’s Oil Capital is a city well served by air, road and rail links making it easier than ever before to visit the city for business or pleasure. Both budget and full service airlines fly into the city from across the UK and abroad. Rail and road networks have also improved offering faster connections and transfers from the rest of the UK. The University of Aberdeen is located one mile north of the city centre just off the A90. The city has an efficient bus service that regularly picks up on campus and taxis are in good supply.

SPECIAL ATTRACTIONS

Castle Trail - follow this to visit a variety of castles in the area. Whisky Trail - a huge number of whisky distilleries in the area to visit. Coastal Trail - dramatic scenery along the coastal fringes of the north east. Aberdeen Beach - miles of golden sand and a variety of restaurants and bars. Balmoral Castle - the summer home of the Royals is located nearby. Winter Gardens - botanical interest all year round.
