VENUE DESCRIPTION

Situated on a 200-hectare estate 2 miles from the junction of the M6/A66, the gateway to the Lake District, Cumbria Campus at Newton Rigg is the perfect venue for Conferences or short visits, offering year round Conference Centre and accommodation for 270 guests. Only twenty minutes from Ullswater and picturesque scenery of lakes and mountains. Set in beautiful rural surroundings with panoramic views to Blencathra, we pride ourselves on professional approach, attention to detail and flexibility

BEDROOM DESCRIPTION

Whether it’s an overnight bed & breakfast stop, or a longer stay, Newton Rigg is the ideal base offering accommodation for singles, groups and coach parties, with 150 standard bedrooms (washbasin in each room) plus 120 en suite bedrooms. The majority of rooms are single, with some twin rooms. In addition, some en suite rooms are wheelchair accessible. All blocks have tea/coffee making facilities and all rooms have linen, towels, soap and cups/saucers.

MEETING DESCRIPTION

Newton Rigg Conference Centre – The dedicated Conference Centre is available year round and has disabled access and facilities. The Conference Centre comprises four Conference and Syndicate rooms with an Executive Boardroom, capable of holding from 20 to 200 delegates. The rooms are well furnished and have a full range of Audio-Visual equipment, power sockets and telephone points, and all benefit from natural daylight. The Eden Room is fitted with a hearing loop.

RESTAURANT / BAR DESCRIPTION

Brambles Restaurant – Open all year round, 200 seats available for a variety of uses including Hot Meals (counter service) Silver Service, Buffets or a variety of above. Sample menus available on request. Packed lunches available. Ashness Shop - newly renovated, the shop supplies daily newspapers, magazines, stationery, sweets, sandwiches, snacks and hot and cold drinks.The Gin Case Bar is run by the Student Union and is open on request.

LEISURE FACILITIES

The full range of activities associated with the Lake District is on the Campus doorstep, including sight-seeing, fell-walking, trekking, rambling and water sports. The Campus is also on the CTC cycleway.

DIRECTIONS

Situated on a 200-hectare estate, just 2 miles from the junction of the M6/A66, at the gateway to the Lake District. From Junction 40 M6 take A592 to mini-roundabout, and then follow signs to the Campus. The main West Coast Mainline railway station, Penrith, is only one and a half miles away and is easily accessible.

In the Heart of the Lake District - The 200-hectare Campus is situated 2 miles from the historic town of Penrith, in beautifully tranquil surroundings with marvellous vistas to the Lakeland Hills. A sympathetic approach has been adopted in converting old sandstone farm buildings into modern facilities, and include a bar and Beer Garden. Just completed are an environmentally friendly Learning and Resource Centre and Library. Additional Attractions - Additional attractions on site include beautiful formal gardens and an Arboretum. On Campus are a range of sports pitches and Sports Hall. Just for Children - We have an Early Years Centre on Campus, providing high quality childcare for children up to the age of 8. Places are subject to availability – early enquiries are recommended, and advance booking is required. Childcare can also be organised at weekends in the Early Years Centre, subject to demand.
